Christmas Tree

Christmas trees became popular in the 1840’s, when Prince Albert and Queen Victoria were pictured by a tree Prince Albert had brought over from Germany. Most homes in the UK will decorate at least one Christmas tree, and many now also have one outside of the house with Christmas lights on it.

Christmas trees are traditionally decorated, sometimes heavily, with tinsel, baubles, crackers, lights and beads. Most people have a Christmas angel or fairy on top of the tree, or sometimes a star is used. Present are often wrapped and placed under the tree, to be given on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
